Updates....

Not too much of an update but it's progress.......

Range hood hung

Beadboard backsplash

Carpenter lock sets

Look at the size of the keys! I can't believe we'll have to carry these around. One things for sure, I probably won't loose my keys again!

My curly maple hanging corner cupboard. Can't wait to fill it with mochaware!  I didn't know it was possible to fall in love with wood!

Frig in place.

Wonderful job my hubby did with the built-in next to the family room fireplace!

Sorry it's not much of an update, but wanted to get pictures of for those who have been asking!

Busy Busy....

Sorry that it's been so long since we updated our progress on the house. We have been busy and are really almost finished!

To help with drainage issues and water in the basements, Jeff busted up the concrete and dug 15" down and laid a french drain and gravel.  He also installed sump pumps in both basements. now we have nice, clean, dry basements!

We also have the yard graded and seeded.  Grass has already sprouted.

Our bricklayer, Pete Tibbin of 1st Class Masonry, set a 18x38 brick patio outback.  We used old reclaimed brick from the Barnyard Boys in Wakefield, PA.

Jeff has hung almost all of our kitchen cabinets.  We're still waiting on a tiger maple hanging corner cupboard that should be finished in the next week or two.  We will also be having the countertop company come down soon so that they can scribe for the countertop.  We will be using StoneMasters on Kennett Square, PA.  Can't wait for my soapstone counter and farm house sink!

The stripping is almost completely finished and now for painting.  This is just the primer, but I am loving the color!

The next big project is making the fireplaces nice again. We dug out all of the old sand pits underneath.  Jeff has framed in the voids and will lay old brick...again, reclaimed from The Barnyard Boys.

Hopefully next update, we'll have some color on the walls and the counters in and be just about ready to start moving furniture in!!

It's starting to come together!

We went up earlier this week to check out the progress on our kitchen cabinets.  They are being made by Gary Hershey in Oxford, PA.  When we got there, Gary had them laid out in almost the exact fashion they'll be once they are installed.  It was so exciting to see them.  He should be finished within the next 2 weeks.  Time to finish up the kitchen and get ready for them.

Of course, the cabinets won't be sitting on top of each other like this.  The 1st break in the cabinets is where my soapstone apron front sink will be.  The 2nd break is just a "step down" in the counter under a window.

It's upside down, but it's a hanging corner cupboard made out of curly maple.  This will be gorgeous once it has a bit of stain on it!  The rest of the cabinets are being painted a sage color.

The above cabinet shows the raised panel on the cabinet fronts and the cock beading around the drawers.

This is a step back cupboard that I'll use for a little extra storage.  It will have raised panel doors top and bottom and 2 small drawers on the bottom.

The next step is to have the countertop people come out and make a template.  I'm so excited...I might be able to cook Thanksgiving dinner!!!!

Slowly but Surely....

We're still at it.  The past few months we've kind of slowed down with end of school year programs and wanting to spend time with the kids in the warmer weather.  We're still over there just about every weekend and most week nights.

Earlier this  month, we had 1/2 round gutters and downspouts installed and had blown in insulation put in the attic floorboards.  While pulling up some of the floorboards, Jeff came across a "partial" snake skin that was about 5 1/2 feet long and about 3 inches wide in the belly.  I'm hoping that was a left over from last year.  Good news is that we haven't seen nearly as many as last year!  But, one is more than too much for me!

Jeff also laid a nice brick patio for the A/C units.

Light fixtures for the bathrooms came in!  Now to find a mirror....

Still working on plastering the rooms.  The family room has yet to be started, but we are almost finished the living room, dining room and 2 of the front bedrooms....and that's it for plaster work!  I still need to paint ALL of the trim work in the house.  Hopefully next update we'll have kitchen cabinets to show!

We are behind in our original estimate of when we would be in the house, but we are so close.  Just a few more months of work.

Whoa!

Jeff opened the cover on the living room fireplace...look what we found!  We're flipping a coin to see who is going to shovel it all out!

What's that we see? A light?

It's the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel."  We've been really busy the past few weeks putting things back together and yes, actually putting paint on walls!

We had the bathrooms and laundry room floors tiles.  This past weekend I put paint on the walls and Jeff started some of the trim work.

Plaster work has been finished in the kitchen and 3 of the bedrooms.

My appliances came in way early. We were told that it would take close to a month for our appliances to come in. A few days after we ordered them, they called and said they were ready for pick up. So, Jeff had to hurry and put the reclaimed wood floor down in the kitchen.
